Q: Is all tutoring one on one? A: Yes, all of our tutoring (unless requested otherwise) is done on a one-on-one basis to maximize the attention on each of our students.
Q: How long are the sessions? A: All sessions are up to one hour, once a week (unless otherwise specified).
Q: Who are the tutors? A: Our tutors are all high-achieving Brookline High School students.
Q: What subjects do you offer? A: We offer elementary and middle school level math, science, social studies, language, and English tutoring.
Q: Is tutoring virtual or in-person? A: This year, SBT tutors and students will be matched up by tutoring preferences in addition to subject, so that should be decided beforehand. However, if circumstances change, students and tutors have the option to safely meet virtually via Zoom.
Q: What is the time commitment as a SBT Tutor? A: It depends on how involved you are with our organization! Tutoring a student is generally an hour a week. If you decide to contribute outside of tutoring by helping with website design or marketing, the time commitment would get closer to two to three hours per week.
Q: What else can I do outside of tutoring? A: At Study Buddy Tutoring, you can contribute in a variety of ways by helping with website design, social media management, marketing, fundraising, or administrative duties.
Q: Can I get credit/volunteer hours by tutoring? A: Yes! You can email us to request a volunteer hours form to log the hours you spent tutoring your student within the year. Once you have completed enough hours, the form can be returned to us to be transferred into academic credit through the school.
